Joe grew up in a small town in North Carolina. After high school, his family moved to Edenton, North Carolina, where his parents, Lois and Marvin, still live. Joe graduated Cum Laude from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a B.A. in psychology. He went on to study at Duke Divinity School, (GO BLUE DEVILS! 2015 National Champs!) while serving as a student pastor. There he met and married Amy, from Newport News, Virginia. They graduated together in 2009. This May Joe begins doctoral studies in church leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He will graduate, with a lot of grace and God’s help, in May of 2018. He’s interested in church revitalization and leadership.
Joe’s personal interests include reading and anything outdoors, (fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, vegetable gardening, riding his Harley, etc.). He’s a sucker for dogs and includes Abigail, (black lab) and Annabelle, (golden retriever) when naming members of his family.
