Women of the Church – We would love for you to read Signs of Life by David Jeremiah along with our United Methodist Women.  This powerful, uplifting book is a 40 day inspiring journey that discusses signs of life-signs that Jesus has transformed us and that we are committed to him and his kingdom.  Signs of Life will lead the reader on a journey to a fuller understanding of the marks that identify one as a Christian, that advertise your faith – the imprints that can impact souls for eternity and help one become a person of influence who radiates relevancy, authenticity, generosity, and compassion every day, just like Jesus did.  You are also invited to visit a United Methodist Women’s Circle to see how we join together to serve others.  Contact a Circle Leader for meeting times, dates, locations.  Circle Leaders are:
Circle One: Martha Cusimano (mmcusimano@centurytel.net),
Circle Two: Suzanne Evans (sae109@centurytel.net),
Circle Six: Kristi Hodge (kristihodge410@gmail.com),
Day Circle: Sharon Dunson (tide2rise2@yahoo.com).
You can order the book Signs of Life by Sept. 5th at a UMW circle meeting for $10, or order a new or used
paperback or Kindle edition online from Amazon.com

Circle One is planning to mail a card, along with a small token of our love, to our undergraduate college students.  If you have a child in undergraduate school, please email their mailing address to Cindy Lawson at cjl715@live.com by Sept. 30th.

Etheridge’s Epistle – September

The September edition of Neighborhood Watch is now available online at fumctrussville.com/newsletter

LK 12:32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Jesus tells us that God wants to give us the Kingdom. What has happened that prevents this in my life? The answer is simple, the sin I have in my life. There is not enough room for the Kingdom.

Here are two statements by the powerful preacher D.L. Moody: Speaking to a large audience, D.L. Moody held up a glass and asked, “How can I get the air out of this glass?” One man shouted, “Suck it out with a pump!” Moody replied, “That would create a vacuum and shatter the glass.” After numerous other suggestions, Moody smiled, picked up a pitcher of water, and filled the glass. “There,” he said, “all the air is now removed.” He then went on to explain that victory in the Christian life is not accomplished by “sucking out a sin here and there,” but by being filled with the Holy Spirit. D.L Moody said, “I believe firmly that the moment our hearts are emptied of pride and selfishness and ambition and everything that is contrary to God’s law, the Holy Spirit will fill every corner of our hearts. But if we are full of pride and conceit and ambition and the world, there is no room for the Spirit of God. We must be emptied before we can be filled.”

Think About it, Pray about it.
I will see you in worship this Sunday!

In Christ,
Dr. Bill Etheridge
