Communion Fund – If you wish to donate to the Communion Fund, you are welcome to give either during Communion, or at any time. Please place your donation in an envelope with your name on it or write a check. You will be given credit on your contribution statement. Please remember this fund is used to help others in need.

ALL Women of the Church – We NEED your participation in our next UMW FAITH in ACTION project!  We’re having a LEARNING TOYS SHOWER to benefit children, infant – 4K at the Lovelady Center, a Christ-centered transitional home in eastern Birmingham for 400 women in crisis and their children. Recently, the Health Department required the Lovelady Center to throw out their old, broken toys!  Some of us recently visited the beautiful children there, and their classrooms were almost BARE!  Stephanie Smith from the Lovelady Center will speak to us about the children in Lovelady’s Kidzone and Freedom Rains School.  Wed., 8/17 in the Pioneer classroom at 6 pm.  Bring a friend!  UMW Circle Six is hosting.  What KIND OF LEARNING TOY could you bring?  ANY NEW learn -and-play toys by Vtech, LeapFrog, Fisher Price, or Little Tykes.  Any wooden or plastic alphabet letters and numbers, puzzles, or other learning games.  Please No fabric toys, due to health concerns.  Let’s help these precious children!

UMW would like to give a BIG shout out of thanks to the Pioneer Class, the UMM, and the VBS children and parents who gave money and school supplies for the kids in need at the Lovelady Center’s Freedom Rains School.  We now have a collection bin so that the whole congregation can help donate school supplies for kids in need here in Trussville and at the Lovelady Center.  The collection bin is located under the John Wesley picture outside the Fellowship Hall.  ANY supplies for grades K-12 welcome!  Supplies needed include: notebooks, pencils, pens, scissors, glue, crayons, markers, colored pencils, rulers, small pencil sharpeners, folders, binders, backpacks, clorox wipes, baby wipes, kleenex.  You name it, they need it!  There will also be a community drive-by and drop-off collection in our front church parking lot on Sat., 8/20, 9 am – 12 noon.  Thank you for helping these children!

Stephen Ministers work alongside our pastors to care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are going through a difficult time, such as divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation, chronic illness, or loneliness. If you have gifts for caring, encouragement, and listening, please begin to prayerfully consider whether you might want to be part of this exciting ministry. If you think you might be interested, talk with one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders: Jesse Shaddix, Joe DeWitte, Kathy Roskam, Stuart Garner, or Will Northern.

Prayer Workshop – Do you need to refresh or energize your prayer life and your daily Christian walk? We’ll explore different ways to approach prayer — physical things that can influence how our heart, mind, and soul express our desire for God’s will. We’ll practice techniques, but also spend time in earnest prayer for the concerns of ourselves and others. No book required. During Deep Sea Discovery, kids will get to know God is always with them, explore God’s presence in their lives, and serve God by serving others. Through Deep Sea Discovery, kids will grasp that God is with them wherever they go! Hands-on service projects, games, and sea science will help kids experience a VBS adventure like no other, and they’ll leave each day ready to set sail to serve others and tell God’s story.VBS begins at 5:30 nightly with a Snack Supper and ends at 8 pm. Women of the church and all UMW Circles are invited to an item shower to benefit Independence Place, on Mon., 5/2, 6:30-7:30 in the Fellowship Hall. UMW Circle Two is hosting.

SOUL CAFÉ/CHICKEN SALAD FUNDRAISER. Get your mom the perfect Mother’s Day treat. Order a quart of Chef Shawn’s delicious chicken salad for only $12.00 Please place your orders no later than Tues., 5/3. You can pick up your order on Wed. night, 5/4, during Soul Café or Thu., 5/5, between 12 and 5 pm.
