Your Place in Ministry – May 7th

The Handbell Ministry at Trussville FUMC has been very busy this year.  Ring Refresh 2016 started the year in August.  Since then lots of ringing filled the air including ringing for the 8:30/11:00 Sanctuary, Combined and Grace Vision Services, the Veterans’ Day Celebration Service, Lessons and Carols, the Live Nativity, the Maundy Thursday Service and the Spring Concert.   Ringing was not limited to the confines of Trussville FUMC.  Joyful Jesus Ringers spread lots of joy and happiness Christmas Chiming for some of our Shut-Ins.  Jubilant Ringers journeyed to  St. Vincent’s East and rang for the Blessing of the Nativity and Christmas Tree and attended the two day Central Alabama Handbell Festival.  All of this was made possible because of extremely talented and dedicated ringers surrounded by a very loving and supportive church family.  Many thanks to the ringers for all their hard work and faithfulness and to our church family for your tremendous support.   Special thanks to all who attended the Spring Handbell Concert last Sunday and to those who helped with the set up and take down.  Note: This Wednesday is our last rehearsal for both Jubilant Ringers and Joyful Jesus Ringers until we start back in the fall.

The United Methodist Men will meet Sunday, May 14 in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 am.  Breakfast will be prepared by the Friendship Sunday School Class.  The guest speaker this month will be TFUMC Member Captain Jeff Farmer with the 117th Civil Engineer Squadron.  All are welcome.  You do not have to be a member of the UMM to attend.  We hope you will join us.

Make plans to join us on May 24th at 5:00 pm in the Gardens for the Aldersgate Day Celebration/Annual Cookout and outdoor Worship Service (weather permitting.)

Brass 4HIM will perform at St. Martin’s in the Pines at 10 am on Saturday, May 13th.

All Women of the church,  Let’s better understand sex trafficking and reach out to survivors from the WellHouse!

From the book: Every year over 100,000 children in the United States are forced to do someone’s sexual bidding. Most of them are between the ages of 9 and 19. This is not some faraway, foreign problem. This is in our own neighborhoods, our own towns and cities.

A note from Pat Smith…
Several orthopedic procedures seem to be in my future, the first one is scheduled in April. Being “ok” again is my prayer and being able to do one of my favorite things – arranging the Sanctuary flowers. Thank you so much for being a flower sponsor. Love in Christ, Pat Smith.

We have all appreciated and enjoyed the beautiful flower arrangements that Pat Smith has provided over the years for our Sanctuary. Her special talent is a great gift, for which we are very thankful. We look forward to once again enjoying her beautiful floral creations. Until further notice, flowers for the Sanctuary will be handled differently. If you have already paid for your flower arrangement, and given us your notice for the bulletin, you do not need to do anything further. If you have reserved a date, but not yet paid for the flowers, the cost will be $50. During this time, if you wish to place a flower order for the Sanctuary, please contact the Church secretary to reserve your date and place your notice in the bulletin, making payment at the time of reservation. Checks should be made payable to TFUMC. Please write “flowers” on the memo line of your check. If you have any questions, please contact Church office.
