Your Place in Ministry – June 1st

We would like to invite all women to participate in our church-wide Bible study this summer which begins this Wed., June 7th and ends July 19th. We will meet in the Pioneer Classroom at 6:15 p.m.

This summer’s study will be “Looking for Lovely” by Annie Downs. As Christians, we are not promised lives of ease. Often it takes just a small moment of beauty to regain hope and continue on when life is chaotic and unpredictable. Only when we learn to spot the lovely in the midst of hardship can we experience the transcendent peace of God that keeps us persevering when we want to give up.

In this 6 week study, Annie examines the ordinary people of the Bible, fishermen, farmers, musicians, and women – to discover how they sought beauty in their everyday lives to hold onto the hope of God’s perfect timing and how God makes everything beautiful in His time.
If you would like to participate in this study, please email Freda Shirah at dshirah630@charter.net or by texting or calling her at (205) 515-7518. The cost of the participant’s book will be $15.00; the books will be available the first night of class.

Please be in prayer for Bridge Builders and come join us as we feed the homeless this Thurs., June 8th. We’ll prepare at 3:30 and leave the Church at 5:15.

Please join us on Sun., June 11 at 7 AM in the Fellowship Hall for the United Methodist Men’s breakfast. Our speaker is Steve Glenn; lifelong member of FUMC-Trussville, family man, world traveler and cancer survivor. His topic is “The Worst Vacation Ever.” Breakfast will be prepared by the Character Builders/Outreach Bible Study Classes.

We have all appreciated and enjoyed the beautiful flower arrangements that Pat Smith has provided over the years for our Sanctuary. Her special talent is a great gift, for which we are very thankful. We look forward to once again enjoying her beautiful floral creations, once she has fully recovered from her orthopedic challenges. Until further notice, flowers for the Sanctuary will be handled differently. If you have already paid for your flower arrangement, and given us your notice for the bulletin, you do not need to do anything further. If you have reserved a date, but not yet paid for the flowers, the cost will be $50. During this time, if you wish to place a flower order for the Sanctuary, please contact the Church secretary to reserve your date and place your notice in the bulletin, making payment at the time of reservation. Checks should be made payable to TFUMC. Please write “flowers” on the memo line of your check. If you have any questions, please contact the Church office. Thank you for sponsoring the Sanctuary flowers.
