Announcements for the week of August 14th

The lovely ceramic cross for use by the Worship Committee in the Sanctuary was made and donated by Judy Spain for the honor and glory of God and in loving memory of Doc and Ruth Riddle.

The Stephen Series, for which First United Methodist Church of Trussville will soon begin its second training class, benefits many others besides those who receive the care of their Stephen Ministers. The Stephen Ministers grow greatly as they learn about helping others and they learn about themselves. As the hurting members of our congregation grow stronger through this caring ministry, the whole church is built up and made stronger. When the pains of life come our way, someone will always be there, ready to care for us and to bring God’s love to us in a special, personal way. Perhaps God is calling you to be one of these caring, committed servants who offer Christ’s love to those who are hurting. If you believe you have the gifts and graces for this ministry, please contact the church office for an application.

We’re having a LEARNING TOYS SHOWER to benefit children, infant – 4K at the Lovelady Center on Wed., 8/17 in the Pioneer classroom at 6 pm.

You can donate school supplies for kids in need both here in Trussville, and at the Lovelady Center. The collection bin is located under John Wesley’s picture outside the Fellowship Hall. All supplies for grades K-12 are welcome. Supplies needed include: notebooks, pencils, pens, scissors, glue, crayons, markers, colored pencils, rulers, small pencil sharpeners, folders, binders, backpacks, clorox wipes, baby wipes, kleenex. There will also be a community drive-by/drop-off collection in our front church parking lot on Sat., 8/20, 9 am-12 noon. Thank you.
