Your Place in Ministry – October 9th

Missions Meeting Mon., 10/10, 6:30 in the Conference Room. This is a budget meeting. All members please try to attend. Anyone thinking about a mission trip should contact the Mission committee before 10/10 so we can budget for it and fill out scholarship forms, if applicable.

Christmas is just around the corner…plan to shop at the “Ceramics Sale” during Soul Café on Wed., 10/12 in the CLC. All proceeds will benefit the purchase of a new kiln for our ceramics ministry. All donations are appreciated. Please make your check payable to TFUMC and put “ceramics” on the memo line. Thank you.

The Leisure Group outing will be on Wed., 10/12, leaving the Church parking lot at 9:30 am. We will tour replicas of Columbus’ ships, the Pinta and the Nina in Guntersville Harbor at 1:30 pm. The cost is $12 (non-refundable) per person, and includes both entrance and tour fees. Only 6 reservations are left. They prefer cash, so please pay me in advance of our trip. We must have a minimum of 15 to have the tour. It lasts approximately 30 minutes, then you can roam on your own. We’ll have lunch before our tour.

World Wide Communion Sunday reminded us of our brothers and sisters around the world who joined together with us to share Holy Communion. Many thanks to everyone who helped with the services and who helped us remember we are part of the family of God.

Bridge Builders invites you to join us as we feed the homeless on Thurs., 10/13. We’ll prepare food at 3:30 pm and leave the Church at 5:15 pm.

We will have Acolyte Training on Sun., 10/16 during the Sunday School hour from 9:45-10:45 am in the Sanctuary.

Our United Methodist Women and Women’s Ministry Team are reaching out to the 400 Loveladies who live at the Lovelady Center in east B’ham. Join us. PLEASE READ the fascinating, powerful book Miss Brenda and the Loveladies by Brenda Spahn to learn how the Lovelady Center began when the Lord called Miss Brenda to provide her home for 7 women released from prison, and how the Lord has impacted hundreds of women since then. You may purchase the paperback or Kindle book online at or, or contact Joan Bynum at to order a book.  Let’s read this UMW book selection by mid-October to prepare our hearts to reach out to the Loveladies!  Each purchase benefits the Lovelady Center.

Let’s Hear a Lovelady Woman’s Testimony and Donate Well-Loved Bibles!  On Sun., 10/16 at 4 pm, all women are invited to meet in the Fellowship Hall to hear the testimony of a Lovelady woman, followed by refreshments and fellowship. Invite your friends, sisters, moms, and daughters to attend!  Please bring an old Bible to donate at the meeting on 10/16! Well-loved Bibles may also be placed in the box outside the Fellowship Hall now through October 16th.  You may place a note inside your Bible or highlight favorite passages.  They especially need Study Bibles. Let’s fill up that donation box with Bibles for the Lovelady women!

Please join us Sun., 10/23 for lunch in the Fellowship Hall. This is a fundraiser for our 2017 Ecuador Mission Trip. All Saints Sunday – We will celebrate All Saints Sun., 11/6 in all three services. In addition to remembering those of our congregation who have entered into the Church Eternal since last year’s All Saints Day, we will give everyone an opportunity to remember a loved one who has passed away at any time. Please email the name of the loved one you wish to remember, along with your name, to Candy Strickland no later than Fri., 10/21. Thank you.
